No way, I say screw it, get the weapons inspectors out of there, they don't know what the hell they're doing. Let's tell Congress to give Obama sole authority to declare war on the bastards. Then lets bomb them out of existence. Hey, we need another mid-east country to secure OUR oil supply damn it! While we're at it, lets blow away Ahmadinejad...he's an asshole, I mean that whole Israel thing and denying the holocaust! Geeze. I know that the Iranians want to be freed. And screw the rest of the world if they don't like it, you're either with us or against us. We'll go it alone if need be, start a draft if we have to. Don't mess with the US!
Maybe we can hem and haw around for a few decades while they stockpile an arsenal of nukes. You know, we can start rpograms like oil for medicine, and UNICEF can come in. We can set no fly zones too. I say we have the U.N. oversee these programs. Becuase they really know the in's and out's of them. Been doing/running them for years.
What's the real harm of waiting until they use one (nuke) against Israel, because really they are just as bad if not worse... Israel is the satan little brother anyway.
We don't have to worry about a nuke arms race either; because Syria, Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon won't need their own...
Ooooh and just never mind the fact that Iran funds terrorist organizations all over the world. Again what's the real harm if one of these weapons makes it into the hands of a neat little terroist cell, ohh, say like in Dallas, Seattle, or Yuma. Besides we have it coming anyway. We are the evil capatialist imperial infidel great satan...
I think we've been down this road before. I think this part of the article should be highlighted, put in bold, set aside with arrows pointing to it, and maybe flashing;
"The report by experts in the International Atomic Energy Agency stresses in its introduction that its conclusions are tentative and subject to further confirmation of the evidence, which it says came from intelligence agencies and its own investigations."
You may recall, our weapons inspectors in Iraq said they couldn't find evidence that Iraq had wmd's and we didn't listen to them. Lets get the inspectors into Iran and lets pay attention to them this time.
I understand both your points, and to some extent I agree.
However the difference to me between Iraq and Iran is a simple one. Iraq didn't have a facility capable of producing a nuke in 2003. They were alleged to have the materials and possibly a secret facility. Thankfully Israel took care of their "known" facility, (They were working with France, and Russia) in the early eighties!
Iran however does have such facilitie(s) that we know of, (and have pictures of) and are working towards the goal of having nukes.
I agree we need to learn from the past. A full scale invasion might not be warranted but a tomahawk strike just might be.
