Today I had a woman drive by me here in Albany and yell “Wetback” at me. I got a real good look at her, for she didn’t even try to look away.
There was nothing equivocal about the nature of her comment. Her face was stained with contempt as if I had just killed her dog or something. Hate even.
What confused me is that she seemed to be living one sort of a lucrative, decadent lifestyle. She had sort of a business woman look, or maybe retired. What’s up with Albany?
I’ve been a bit dejected by how the city has dealt with this dog named Blue and now this? Unfortunately Albany is becoming a ludicrous town.
Speaking of origins, I’m a full-blooded federally recognized Native American Indian. If the comment “Wetback” was suggesting that I don’t belong here, think again.
Unfortunately, too many people only see with their eyes. She probably thought I was uneducated too. Have a nice day.
