I quite agreed with Jody Mohlman's Sept. 23 letter, "If it's wrong to keep Obama out of the classroom, what about Jesus?" After all, it's not like there's some silly "separation of church and state" amendment.
And I'm sure she won't disagree that we must include other religions, such as Buddhism, Islam and the Flying Spaghetti Monster. After all, Allah/the FSM/Buddha spoke of love for one another, just like Christ. We can start the day praying to three different gods. That shouldn't confuse anybody.

Cute letter.
ReplyDeleteWell done considering he is 13! I'm impressed that he'd even heard of the FSM. My son knows about it but I thought we were outliers.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, so cute... Cute as a new born puppy.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're still posting, COE! I wondered where you'd been.
ReplyDeleteThe letter writer has a good point, no?
I agree. Schools are a place to learn. Church is where we go to be with Jesus. I was just being cute too...
ReplyDeleteRight on.
ReplyDelete"I'm glad you're still posting, COE! I wondered where you'd been."
ReplyDeleteThanks Vicky. I am the only conservative voice; so at times I feel like I am bickering. I had to take a little time off and recharge.
Time off is good. But it wouldn't be a very valuable forum if everyone agreed on everything! What would be the point? I think we all lie on a spectrum from liberal to conservative.
ReplyDeleteThe following are the lyrics of two songs reportedly taught to a class at a New Jersey elementary school full of praises for the "great accomplishments" of President Obama.
ReplyDeleteSong 1:
"Mm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that all must lend a hand
To make this country strong again
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said we must be fair today
Equal work means equal pay
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said that we must take a stand
To make sure everyone gets a chance
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
He said red, yellow, black or white
All are equal in his sight
Mmm, mmm, mm!
Barack Hussein Obama
Yes!
Mmm, mmm, mm
Barack Hussein Obama"
Song 2:
"Hello, Mr. President we honor you today!
For all your great accomplishments, we all doth say "hooray!"
Hooray, Mr. President! You're number one!
The first black American to lead this great nation!
Hooray, Mr. President we honor your great plans
To make this country's economy number one again!
Hooray Mr. President, we're really proud of you!
And we stand for all Americans under the great Red, White, and Blue!
So continue ---- Mr. President we know you'll do the trick
So here's a hearty hip-hooray ----
Hip, hip hooray!
Hip, hip hooray!
Hip, hip hooray!"
LET PARANOIA RING...
Have you fact-checked this because I find it hard to believe?
ReplyDeleteThe second one isn't as bad, but the first one is simply unacceptable. I don't like the idea of the second one either, but the first one has political ideologies that aren't appropriate. I stand with anyone apposed to this in a classroom. This is not the same as showing the President's speech.
OK, I just saw it on youtube. Extremely poor choice by the teacher!!!
ReplyDeleteP.S. This does NOT mean that Obama nor his administration had anything to do with indoctrinating kids. I'm sure it was news to Obama as well.
ReplyDelete"He said red, yellow, black or white
ReplyDeleteAll are equal in his sight"
This was so stupid of the teacher to do. Anyone raised Christian knows that is almost verbatim from Jesus Loves the Little Children.
Nice, add fuel to the fire of those who use the Messiah term! Way to go, teacher!

ReplyDeleteI was all for his speech to the Schools a few weeks ago as the speech had nothing but uplifting language and no political overtures. It was a great speech, and I applauded it.
I do find it funny (In a sad way) that before the speech there was outrage by crazy right wingers, as no one had seen the speech. These people were called paranoid, racist, and silly.
With incidents like this is it still crazy and paranoid to wonder about Obama and his administrations motives? Look at his admin. and all the Czars, and those he is close to...
"P.S. This does NOT mean that Obama nor his administration had anything to do with indoctrinating kids."
Either did Hitler... The scary thing is this is how it always starts! Before you guys go crazy I am not saying Obama is Hitler or comparing him. I use it only as an example of the worst case!
We have freedom of speech in this country. There are Nazi parades. This teacher's decision to make up a song praising Obama is, IMO, and outlier among Obama's supporters. I think the vast majority would not agree with doing this.
ReplyDeleteI must be the only moderate.
ReplyDeleteI consider myself a moderate liberal.
ReplyDeleteI consider myself mostly Conservative, loosely moderate, and sometimes liberal. Depends on the issue for me...
ReplyDelete"Our country's stood beside us People have sent us aid. Katrina could not stop us, our hopes will never fade. Congress, Bush and FEMA People across our land Together have come to rebuild us and we join them hand-in-hand!"

Ahhhhhh...very interesting.
ReplyDeleteDidn't know about that then. It's not right to praise Bush in schools either. No double standards!
