Yes, I think lifting the ban would help. I think, though, that until there is a sea change in this country regarding how homosexuals are perceived, there will be thugs such as those involved in this case who end up with military authority and who misuse that authority as a way to express their fear and hatred.
I never had an issue with serving with/next to homosexuals. I don't get it. If you want to serve your Country then pick up a weapon and stand beside me, what do I care?
I'll take a good shot in a fox hole gay or straight!
We tolerate food in our teeth . I hAve no use for tolerance. I meant your demo that you mentioned, white etc that fact is I know more people that fit your profile than fit mine. This isnot intolerance this is a fact.aybe you should spend more time listening and less time insulting. With that I bid you good day have. I don't tolerate intolerance. On my way to the Folsom street fair.
I was going to say I know more people who fit your profile than you know people who fit mine, but I decided to own it. "I" statements. that is the proper and respectful way to address someone. Okay, now I am off to test the limits of tolerance as I watch some leather pigs whip each other. It's hot.
Suffice to say I respect, and admire anyone who serves (gay or straight). Of course my respect is not limited to those who serve in the military. Any service to our Country, and/or community is due respect. IMHO of course...
Enjoy that street fair, and the whipping of those leather pigs... :) Never been a leather fan, but hey, to each their own...

ReplyDeleteGood point, but perceptions often times change with policies.
ReplyDeleteThat's true! I guess it's one of those chicken/egg things...

I know, this goes against my "White", "Christian", and "Straight" status. I might get my cards revoked, huh, Ajai?
ReplyDeleteI know far more people in your demographic than my own
ReplyDeleteMy demographic? What is this an ad buy? I myself fit into many different demographics as do you...
ReplyDeleteFor a tolerant person you sure aren't very tolerant!

ReplyDeleteI thought what COE said in his September 25, 2009 3:13 PM post was pretty cool. Can't we leave it at that and not slam each other??
ReplyDeleteI agree. Personal attacks are uncalled for.
ReplyDeleteI agree, and I am sorry.

I'm not really either, but hey, I'm tolerant. Besides a hot man is a hot man!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw Sammy Hagar in concert (whoa, that was a long time ago) and he came out in red leather pants, that was definitely hot.
ReplyDeleteChristian Bale looks good in anything...linen, BatMan suit, leather, flannel, whatever...
Oh, how objectifying of me!
"Christian Bale looks good in anything"
ReplyDeleteHow about covered in blood and wearing nothing but a chain saw?
Sorry, I watched "American Psycho" on IFC last night...
