I agree with Hasso for the most part. There are numerous work (and school) dress codes and I think that some degree of common sense should prevail with the new law. Obviously it wouldn't make sense for a firefighter or police officer to come to work in a religious robe instead of their official uniform. But what is the harm if a DMV worker wants to wear a yamaka or turbin? I would guess that most people simply wouldn't because it is out of context.
In the case of teachers, I think the reason for keeping these symbolic clothing articles out of the classroom is obvious. They are in a position of authority over children from a wide variety of religious beliefs and a teacher wearing religious garb to teach in could be interpreted as promotion of a particular religion.
I'm not sure how a hat or lower case T is religious, but I like schools having the secular fun, unless these symbols are somehow proven to reduce vampire attacks.
