Photos of Military Deaths in Afghanistan Banned

Here's the link

  1. I agree with protecting the privacy of the individuals and their families. I don't support an all-out ban, though. Why can't photos be taken and published with the families permission?

Also, why particular to Afghanistan? Is this to prevent protest against more troops?

I think I'll write Obama on this one.

  2. I do not know how to post new topics to the blog.
I read it tonight and am outraged.

Sorry to post it on this topic area.

  3. What a freak, I hope he is disbarred or whatever the term is, for this.

We need your email address in order to set you up for posting. If you want, you can post it until I (or one of the others) gets it and then delete the post, if you want to keep your email address off the radar.

  4. Why change the policy now, over one particular person? Yes, I also agree with protecting privacy and being respectful to the bereaved families, but that does not necessitate a full ban on all pictures.

  5. Nice what the judge said about children of said couple. No matter the strange ideals, oftentimes such a mindset is an excuse to treat other people poorly.

  6. Watching media, much more coverage of boy who wasn't in the balloon than recent casualties in Afghanistan.

  7. Re the child excuse that the judge gave, he must not have a problem with same-sex marriages then since they don't allow 'that type of mixing'. By his standard they could even be interracial!

Ha! Someone should try him on that one...

  8. Somehow I doubt he supports same-sex marriage, but I follow you.

  9. Yep, I was being a tad bit sarcastic there ;)

  10. Huh, something glichy is going on and our photos aren't showing on our posts.

Halloween is coming...maybe we're going to be ghosts for awhile.

  11. To my mind, if people find the arguments this judge makes outrageous, then the arguments against same-sex marriage are equally outrageous.

  12. The judge uses the same argument that people opposed same-sex marriage use. The ruse that it's really about the children.

  13. Vicky - I would have no problem with those that post in here having my email address.

It is those that might come into this blog (CarpeDM, Enigma, ect...) that I have witnessed postings of that I do not believe have the responsibility to not harass.

The list can go on: JimL, Rich.

They seem to be unable to hold a debate without name calling and witch hunting.

    Personally they scare me.

After seeing Austin and Enigma implode on the DH site.

You, Tom, Ajai, and COE - I respect. These and others like them, I do not.

I do not have a generalized ( yahoo or gmail), but a specific email account that I have had for years.

  14. momofthree, you could, as I suggested some time ago, give me your email address on my midvalley voice page. I would be the only one to see it. There is no way to set up posting without it. It does NOT make your email address visible, but in order to give permissions, this is needed.

The only other option is to insert your posts in another thread like you did here, which I don't find as desirable. One of us could always take your link and create a new post from that. That is another, although less eligent, option.

  15. I will send it to your midvalley voice thing.

I guess I missed the comment about your suggestion. Sorry.

  16. Awesome. It will be great to have you posting topics!

  17. You should have an email in your inbox that links to how to go about posting now!

  19. I love Sophie's Choice. Kevin Kline and Meryl Streep are two of my favorite actors from that time. I recently watched Grapes of Wrath with my son...fantastic classic.

  20. Yup..am dense...took me a while and I do not know exactly what I did or if I will be able to do it again without a lot of work :)

Have you seen Playing For Time? Excellent Movie.
Old...older than Sophie's Choice, I think. Very good.

  21. Sophie's choice... Reminds me of my new favorite show on ABC "Modern Family".

BTW Ed O'neil is a black belt in Jiu Jitsu and a very cool guy. I got to train and hang out with him in Torrance last year... Food for thought.

  22. Thanks for the links, COE. I love that show! That first clip cracks me up!! How can anyone watch that and not want to hang with the GLBT community?? (ok, it's a bit of a stereotype, but still...)

How cool that you got to meet Ed O'neil! Maybe I'll see you on tv soon!

  23. "Have you seen Playing For Time? Excellent Movie."

No, I'll have to add it to my list. I love getting movies that I missed when they were out originally. I do a lot of catch-up. Thanks!

  24. Sofie's Choice reminds you of a show called Modern Family??

Are we talking about the same movie?

  25. MO3, you have to watch the show. I admit if having not seen the episode my reference would leave you saying, huh?

There is a funny episode (there're all hilarious) where Cam and boyfriend go to a daycare/play date place. There is a woman commenting about renting "Sophie's Choice" and not enjoying it. You'll have to check it out on ABC.com or if it's on youtube. Very funny!
