  1. I don't begrudge the President for taking a breather... A well deserved vacation was in order.

I hope he comes back refreshed and ready to do the, (Cough) Work of the people.

  2. A very nice column, but the absurd cries that he should not speak to schools definitely challenge the premise of a post-racial mindset.

Perhaps it signifies the combustion of barriers.

  3. Gee- I am middle class, and I would "love" to have the 25,000 middle class dollars spent in one week to vacation.

Camping, windsurfing, jet skiing, and money (a lot) left over to pay off a few things.....=)

Ajai - I hear that some school districts are leaving it up to the teachers as to if they want to air his speech. That would be wrong in my book. He's the president. It should not be left up to teachers if his speech is appropriate.

It should be in a curriculum to be discussed by students in Government Classes.

Refusing to show it in itself would be a sublime influence, which is wrong in any government class.

  4. I agree, momofthree, that my family wouldn't be able to afford this either. We don't make the president's salary either. I think the point was more the style of the activities they did, though, and other aspects of the first family that middle-class Americans can relate to.

  6. I am middle class... I am not rich, and I am not poor. I would say that makes me "in the middle".
