As you may or may not know I went with my wife and kids this past Thursday night to a Mariners Yankees game at Safeco field in Seattle.
This was the first MLB game for me and my kiddos. I have been to many semi-pro AAA farm team games just no big league games. I have been a lifelong baseball fan. My wife surprised us, and we went down to the ball park.
It was comparatively (NBA/NFL) cheap to go. With tickets for four, parking hot dogs, and peanuts it set us back $210. Try that at a NFL game!
The atmosphere was great. People were friendly, and it just felt right. It was a nice summer night spent with my family taking in America's game. The National anthem was sung, wonderfully I might add, by a local young lady whose name escapes me currently.
We all (us as well as the entire stadium) stood for the seventh inning stretch and swayed while singing, "Take me out to the ball game". Now Harry Caray wasn't leading us but we did a fair job at belting out the tune. I thought as I had my arms around my wife and my son, this is what life is about. Politics was the farthest thing in my head at that moment.
I really enjoyed reading this story, COE. I can relate. I took my son to see the last Knights game last night. It was good fun. It's not major league, but I love the small-town feel of the Knights games. The hot dogs, the hecklers, the musical effects between innings. And, yes, the national anthem and 'Take me out to the ballgame' at the 7th innings stretch.
The weather was perfect last night for a baseball game. Warm but breezy, and pink cirrus clouds in the sky.
The Knights lost against the Wenatche Applesox (how's that for a team name?).

Still, it was a wonderful time.
